CharitiesWith such a huge gathering of people from all over, we felt this would be a great opportunity for people to support the charity of their choice. Each of these charities will have a booth with volunteers in the Fan Zone that you can visit, ask questions and bring donations. Food Bank for Monterey County People are encouraged to bring a can of food (or other non-perishable food item) to the Friday World Record to drop in the bins that will be provided there next to the BBQ area. You can also drop food and other donations at the booth at the track on the weekend. For more information please visit http://www.foodbankformontereycounty.org/ SPCA Located directly across the street from Mazda Raceway is a very special neighbor, the SPCA for Monterey County. Since 2007, Mazda Motorsports has worked hand-in-paw with the SPCA to promote shelter adoptions at select race weekends. Promotions have ranged from having MUTTS Comics stars Mooch and Earl at the track, naming animals after Mazda racers, special guest drivers like Indy 500 winner Danny Sullivan, and a Bunnies helping bunnies promotion with Playboy. For Miatas at Mazda Raceway, all participants are asked to make a “pet stop” at the SPCA tent in the infield Fan Zone or dropping in at the shelter, or their benefit shop in Carmel. The SPCA will have gift items for purchase and appreciates the donation of pet food (full bags or cans). The Mazda Foundation will be donated $25,000 to the SPCA during the Miatas at Mazda Raceway weekend.
